There's a company that makes a kit to do this. It's actually pretty straightforward, if you're really interested in tossing $5k into a Focus

My biggest concern is how the weight distribution is, like if you put a VR6 in a MK1 Golf, it'll be too front heavy.

and that's one of the slow ones. It's easy to find a focus with a popped motor because of how shitty the 2.0L CVH was. If you're batshit insane and have some time and money on your hands, you could build the ultimate sleeper.

Not gonna lie, I'm seriously considering taking her up on that Mustang offer
I've got my hands tied for the next few years building my Saab, and justifying the extra cost added to a 2007 Focus sedan just doesn't seem worth it.

Yeah, too many projects typically leads to one getting cut (read: sold) so that'd be a no-no in my book.
Mustangs are fun, typically easy to work with, and the results can be endless with all the stuff available. I want to build a drift/hillclimb foxbody sometime in the near future.

I had planned to do this to my '07 ZX-3 eventually. IIRC the subframes and all the necessary sheet metal is available in a kit for ~$5,000 and all you needed to do was source your motor trans and rear end. So for about $10,000 in parts you'd have a damn fast Focus. I dreamed of putting the aluminum 4 valve mod motor in the car with a procharger sitting off the motor. Just think of all the cars you could humiliate with a 400+hp ZX-3. . .
Sadly my ZX-3 was murdered a year ago when some stupid lady decided to stop in the middle of the road for no reason on a rainy night. I learned that it doesn't matter how much space you leave in front of you in the wet in SoCal if you have better brakes than tires, you will slide into the car in front of you even if you were traveling 30 MPH and leaving 75 feet for a gap. I was sad. But now I have a Miata that I can put a V8 into so I guess it isn't all bad.

Isn't this swap feasible because accommodations for a drive shaft and rear axle existed for an all wheel drive version of this gen Focus that never materialized?
